There must be cab / firewall differences somewhere along the line. I planned to do the job "properly" start to finish and refused to cut the tubes and use rubber hose to splice, as many do. I spent more than an hour total putting that core in every possible direction and orientation, even watched someone on a Youtube video do it and it essentially fell into place. There is no way that swivel tubes work in a '97 without loosening the whole heater box (which I had no interest in trying - don't need evap core issues...). I would rather not have stressed and wanked around those shoddy pressed joints and wasted the time trying to fit it in one piece. I ended up cutting the tubes, flaring the 4 ends and putting double tension clamps on each joint with heater hose, no issues so far...

Just my 2 cents - buy a unit with fixed tubes and plan to cut the ends off and use rubber splices with constant tension style clamps (not gear clamps). Buy/rent a quality tube flaring kit so you have some sort of bulb on either tube end to help seal better. Oh and take all precautions necessary to not crack the dash top or dash frame itself - I suggest planning to have truck laid up for a week or more and remove dash entirely or just be extremely careful when you crank the one side out. Plan to make a trip for closed or open cell foam tape of different thicknesses to re-seal ducts as well.

You can try https://www.moparpartsgiant.com/ . You can email their parts specialists to get tech support on their Help Center page. You can request the OEM part number based on your VIN. You can also request availability.
