I have an 02 ram 2500 2wd with the 5.9 magnum. I was wondering if anyone knows good mods to increase MPG. I have been getting about 11 mpg city, 18 highway. I was thinking of doing new spark plugs, a new k&n air filter, and possibly new fuel injectors (the stock 159k ones are probably super dirty by now) Does anyone know any other mods to help with my mpg?
Your probably due for a timing chain. Your MPG is pretty good for these trucks. A set of shorty headers usually helps. Skip the K&N. Get copper plugs, I like NGK. A new NTK O2 sensor would be a good idea.
Get a Ram 1500, higher gears /w open diff. Gear Vendors overdrive, Advanced Adapter OD, it can be another OD gear or underdrive. Synthetics in engine, trans and rear pumpkin. And as mentioned earlier too. Skinny 90,000 mile tires, aluminum rims. Do the minimum speed limit, take 2 miles to get up to speed. Make sure the truck is level and/or lowered. Take the metal tool box out of the bed and the 300 pounds of sand to make it ride smoother. Take the seats out and the carpet. Fun aside, anything to make it lighter. 18mpg isn't bad

I never would have thought about headers, after plugs that’s what I’ll do. O2 sensors I never thought of too.
I’ll admit I gotta get better with tire pressures, I check like once every 2 weeks
That's a heck of a lot more often than I check mine. After checking twice a month for several months, and always getting the same reading, I started ignoring them.

Yup... unless I get a nail, mine only get checked at oil change, and when the first cold front for the season arrives.
I use to check weekly, but after so many years, you get to know when to expect lower pressures.
