Default Diagnose these spark plugs

Pulled these out today as part of my intake plenum repair. They are Bosch Platinum B3 almost 14 yrs old and 140,000 miles. Plugs at 5 and 7 are still in pretty good shape.

These are laid out as they sit in the engine. Cylinders 1,3,5,7 on the left and 2,4,6,8 on the right.

Assuming 2,4,6,8 across the top.... the first three show evidence of burning some oil, number 8 though, is oil fouled. The odd number cylinders aren't quite as bad, but, got some oil burning going on there as well. Think I would be taking a long hard look at the plenum, and probably valve seals as well.

Yes those are 2,4,6,8 across the top. ( If I don’t use “actual size” when uploading, my pics rotate 90 degrees left and apparently some of you can’t see any pic in my original post) I assume you can’t see them either. Anyway to fix that on my end?

I’m in the middle of a plenum fix. I’m the guy that you’ve helped on the “Is this stuff the reason my manifold bolts twisted of” f thread.

The mysteries of how the forums deal with pics is well beyond my understanding. I am sure there are rules for that somewhere, but, I suspect they are random, and the boards just pic and choose based on time of day, phase of the moon, relative humidity, or some other equally arcane condition.

While you have the plenum out of the way, there is no better time to replace the distributor cap, and plug wires as well.

Ordered some Taylor wires yesterday from Summit. Thought I’d give them try.

Good analogy of the workings of forum postings.
