Default 46re issue

Ok I’ve read few things but not really seen any with my exact problems.. 2000 dodge 2500 4x4 5.9 gas.. trans started to slip two days ago.. now today going down road it goes limp. Have to switch to N then back into gear but only last for few mins. Fluid level is good. No engine lights. Just changed output speed sensor and TPS to get light on dash off.. I’ve had 2 other dodges and when it happens I always just change trans out and get it over with but people tell me I’m crazy cause it could be a 50 dollar fix vs a 1500 dollar fix.. I’m thinking maybe the pressure solenoid and/or sensor.. ideas?

Pressure sensor AND solenoid. Change 'em both. (and consider putting a drain plug in your trans pan. ) It's worth a shot at least.

Moving this to Second Gen Ram section for ya. Welcome to DF!

I moved it to the wrong section the first time. You actually posted in the Correct spot. (introductions.) I simply moved the thread so you wouldn't have to retype it all in the tech part of the forums. YOU are doing fine. Me, on the other hand...... Well, its been a long day.

As HeyYou said (he's our current transmission expert) try the cheap option ($50 for the sensors) before a new one . He knows his stuff and even taught me some things

Definitely could be part of the problem. If you adjust the front band and the adjuster screw is close to being flush with the locknut, that's your band going bad. See what kinda shavings you have in your pan.

Yes adjust them and listen to what RaceFan said. HeyYou has the specs for tightening as the FSM is wrong

Yeah, torque the adjusters down to 72 INCH pounds, then back 'em both off 2 turns, re-tighten the lock nuts. One is easy, the other is fun....
