Default Steering wheel noise


My 01 ram 1500
Need help....steering wheel unforgettable noise that is driving me crazy....
its a screeching noise when I turn the steering wheel....
one person said the replace the clock spring....not that.....
another said replace the power steering pump..
the thing with that the noise sound coming from the steering wheel....
help!!! before I shoot something.....

Tear it down, and see if you can see what's rubbing. Did you replace the clockspring?

Lift the front wheels off the ground so you can turn the wheel easily without the engine running. Much easier to narrow down the source of the noise.

Wow, that truck is gorgeous.

Spray some lube on the steering shaft at the u-joint and where it enters the firewall.

Noise near the shaft will transfer up the steel rod in the middle and the steering wheel will act like a speaker. Unless it makes a noise as the wheel rotates, something at the base is making the noise.
