Default Hard start.

okay guys I may have asked this before but I can't find the old thread or I forgot what you guys said I got an 01 second gen and the darn thing starts like a champ on cold days but once it's hot outside or the engine is hot it cranks over 10 to 15 times before it starts and I can smell fuel any ideas on what I can do or what I can fix would be grateful

Need to see what the sensors are telling the PCM under various conditions.

okay how can I access the logs for that is it the same thing as using a code reader or do I need something more sophisticated

Need to be able to read live data. Your code scanner *might* be able to do that.

First thing I think I would check is, see what the PCM thinks engine temp is, when the engine is fully warmed up. (and your hard start condition rears its ugly head.)

if I can't get access to a proper diagnostic machine to read the logs do you have any idea of any common fixes of what caused this problem to happen

You can use something like this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/BAFX-Prod...ices/113606590 and then download to your smartphone proper app, like Torque. That lets you read every sensor output you'll need to diagnose your engine.

It is best, and generally cheaper..... to figure out what the actual problem is, and fix ONE problem, than to throw parts at it, and maybe add other problems on top of what you already have.......

I took the advice and went to Princess's AutoandAuto and baught a $100.00 diagnostic reader we will see what's up in the AM when I throw it on me second gen.
