Never used one. I had a 98 Durango (caliper and mounting is the same) and I used a Helicoil. That, if it works, seems like a better option

interesting! So how does it work? Do I need to get a helicoil kit that’s the same size as my current bolt I have in there? Or do I need a smaller/bigger size?

Get one for the size of the stock bolt. You will have to drill out the whole, run the tap that comes with the helicoil thru it, then put the helicoil in. (use some red lok-tite to keep the helicoil in place.) Let the lok-tite set, put the bolt in, snug it down, drive happy.

Or he could grab a caliper bracket for $13 https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...366590&jsn=459

This one is for an 01 with dual piston front caliper, not sure what year his truck is.

Good heli-coil kits aren't cheap or easy to come by these days.

I know you just order the heli coil, but what about finding a used knuckle............or even that oversized looked like it would have worked....

used knuckle is extra work. And I have a few different applications where the Heli coil would come in handy such as a stripped bolt hole in my transmission pan :/
