Default Is a tuner worth it for my truck?

I’ve got a 2001 24 valve Cummins with a little over 300,000 miles on it. I was looking at getting a tuner for it but I don’t know if it’s gonna hurt the engine because it’s already been through so much. I’ve mainly used this truck as a work truck but haven’t really towed anything with it just heavy loads in the bed. I was looking at getting the https://www.etrailer.com/p-EP30301.h...del=Ram+Pickup for it. I recently got a new transmission for the truck because the old one gave out. Would getting a tuner be worth it or should I just stick with what I got. What are the pros and cons of getting ones?

A fair few folks run some kind of tuner on their oil burner, I haven't seen any failures due to having one..... Gets you more power, but likely also decreases fuel economy....... No idea what it does to engine life......
