Hey guys so im really tired of my belt going bad so quickly, its almost like every 3-4 months that it needs to be changed because it starts squealing and squeaking when im accelerating or as im driving. All the pulleys have been changed overtime except the power steering pump/pulley and the crankshaft pulley. Its really annoying, ive been trying at-205 because it helps to preserve rubber and it was helping at first but now not so much.

 

Have you replaced the tentioner?

 

Yes have replaced it twice since I owned the truck

 

Maybe sometimes it's just because of water or something. As long as I bring the rpms up to 3k-3500 the squealing and squeaking will go away but sometimes it won't and I have to get the belt changed. Is very annoying.

 

The squealing is the belt slipping on a pulley somewhere. So, either the tensioner isn't doing its job, or you have some bearings failing somewhere.

 

I just got the tensioner replaced again this year when I got the engine swapped maybe is the power steering pump pulley. Had an engine with 80k miles put in, so that set me back about 100,000 miles.

 

Could be any of 'em. (except for the crank pulley. ) Water pump, alternator, and p/s pump are the first ones I would look at.

 

Alright water pump was replaced with engine, alternator I replaced myself so yeah its gotta be the power steering pump pulley.
