You are right but something about a GM drivetrain in a Mopar doesn't sit right with me, but that's me :b

I wont lie.... My ideal truck would be a first or second gen dakota. 4wd , with a ford rearend, a manual transmission, and a 5.3 or 6.0 motor.
I looked real hard at it, but the problem is the manual transmission that will take the power of a LS motor, fit in a dakota, yada yada yada..
Then of course, as usual the devil will be in the details!

I did get my ford rearend though!! (installed and running) and will have a 5.9 installed in the next month or two....

GM used the NV4500 as well. Just need a different bellhousing.

Me either! Guess I'm "off" to but already knew that. Another thought is to get the mopar M1 (4 bbl) this way you can use it with or with out fi(multiport or stand alone).

Those are getting to be REALLY hard to find, especially the ones drilled for the injectors. Mopar seems to have stopped making them.

True..... Several years back, a forum member put one in a first gen dakota. I remember him saying, it had a body lift and it needed it for the clearance.
Not to mention, I know the NV3500 used in the dakota and ram use different versions.
One of the differences is the shifter location. That being said, I feel sure it would be a obstacle to work around.

In short, the reason I decided to go 5.9 magnum carbed, nv3500, was to keep it simple.

Ooo, yeah. Valid point. I think the shifter tower is moved back a bit in the full size trucks..... That would be a problem in the Dak.

WOW okay so I didn’t start this thread thinking there would be so much info in it... and I certainly did not realize I could drop an LS engine in my 97?

i had an LS1 in my Camaro and I really really miss it. Now y’all have me thinking about just dropping an LS in this sucker and calling it a day!

big thanks to everyone who has participated in this thread so far I’m loving reading it all!
