Default Truck won't shift gears

We have a 1999 ram 2500 2wd automatic that will not shift gears. It feels like the gear shift isn't connected to anything anymore. We can move the gear shifter from park to 1st but the linkage on the other side of the firewall doesn't move. Anyone have an idea of how to fix the issue?

If the column shifter moves, but, the linkage underneath does not....... Somethin' ain't right. Block the wheels, crawl under the truck, and see if you can move the shift linkage by hand. (key off.)

Then something is definitely broke. May need to replace the column. So far as I know, individual parts are not available.
