Default Tow capacity

Hi I am wondering what my truck is capable of towing and what it can carry in the bed the door sticker just says gvwr is 6600 it’s a 01 ram 1500 5.2l with 3.55s 4wd extended cab short bed. It’s a lower model because it has roll up windows and no carpet but when I look up using the vin I get mixed numbers from 4200lbs to tow to 7000lbs to tow and payload is supposedly 1300lbs do these numbers make sense it only has the trans cooler built into the radiator if that means anything I am putting a 30000 gvwr trans cooler on If that means anything different for towing I know gears are most important but those are pricey

Aren't you lifted with big tires?

yes I know that lower toe capacity but I just want to know what the original tow capacity should be around and then I can do the math to subtract bigger tires, but yes I have 3712.5r17s and 8 inches of lift

Lift and bigger tires doesn't change your legal capacities.

I know but it makes 3.55s I have act like 2.97s so I’m sure I could break stuff very easily if I towed at full capacity a lot with my setup till I regear next year. I don’t tow unless other truck not available so it’s not that important but I’d just like to know what y’all think factory rating was. Now I do full the bed with hay and feed so that is important I usually put a half ton in maybe more if a hurricane is near.

Yes they do. You have a GCWR that you have to be at or under. Adding heavy tires and suspension lower what you can tow by raising your vehicle weight

OP with 37s assuming the lift added no weight you would be at 5,400lbs you are able to tow legally

I don't think 37's with 3.55s go very well with towing..... It'll be a dog out of the hole, and the trans will not like it.

The old trailerlife list shows 7250lbs for a 4wd extended cab 1500 with automatic and 3.55 or 3.92 gearing. Note that these numbers can be a bit optimistic as this was the time before manufacturers used standardized SAE J2807 tow ratings.

I know it would be a dog hauling a half ton in the bed it was a lot slower taking off like really slow compared to empty bed, but I just wanted to know what it could do just for reference and is a 1300 payload sound right cause I wouldn’t want to break the suspension or stuff overloading it the suspension and tires are worth more then the truck cost me
