Unhappy 2nd Gen 360 misfire help needed

Hello, I own a 96 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 360 in it. I am having what seems to be a random misfire but it will not kick on a light until it gets really bad like at interstate speeds. And the code says cylinder 5 and 6 are misfiring. When at idle you can see the entire motor jump and when it happens while driving it feels like someone has hit the brake pedal. I have all new plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, as well as injectors. I am just at a loss for what it could be. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Dan

They are right next to each other in the firing order...... Are the plug wires routed so they aren't cross-firing? Think I might be tempted to do a compression test, and see if those two cylinders are lower than the rest.....

@HeyYou After i did the plugs it ran just fine for about 3 months and this problem just started to happen. havent done a compression test yet. Guess that will be my next check. there is a very loud tick that has started to happen on the passenger side then the whole motor jumps. Sticking valves maybe? im not the best with all of this thank you for your time

Sticking valve, or something similar is a possibility. They are on opposite sides of the motor at least.... and two cylinders misfiring will indeed move things around. I had two plug wires wrong on mine, and once it hit O/D, it felt like it was going to shake the truck apart..... At least mine was an easy fix though.....

What plugs did you install?

@HeyYou It does get a lot worse in overdrive like i said at highway speeds. Double checking never hurt. I put E3s in it and had them in it for a long time before this started to happen. Is there an easy way to fix a sticking valve without having to take the entire head off?

Maybe.... some more successful than others... Most simply don't work. Could try a cleaner, like Marvel Mystery oil, or something similar. Have you checked the intake plenum? There is a thread all about it at the top of this forum..... Think you should check the plugs, see what they look like, if they aren't too bad, compression or leakdown test would be next order of business.

@HeyYou Yea i checked my plenum cause i saw that somewhere else. No unwanted vaccuum and the intake manifold looked pretty clean. Thank you for your help

Pull the plugs then, see what they look like.

Is it a mechanical tick or ignition spark tick? You may want to get a spray bottle filled with water then spray all the ignition components (at night) and see if you have a light show.

Eliminate the easiest first. Follow the TSB to route the plugs wires in relationship to each other correctly. This is absolutely necessary.
Try a different set of plugs. Copper normal ones, like NGK or autolite.
You could pull valve covers and check for proper valve train movement. More likely it's ignition related than a stuck valve.?..
