Ok, so, next step, is see if you are getting power back to the fuel pump when you turn the key on.

I have a buzzer with clips on it. One goes into the wire you are testing, the other goes to a known good ground. Turn the key on, and you should hear it. Barring that, a test light might work, if you can put it where you can see it.... (and hear is another occasion when a second warm body comes in handy. Unless you can teach your dog to bark when the light comes on.... )

ah ok would you do the buzzer at the gas tank.. the problem is you gotta drop the damn tank to get access it it.. i wish trucks made an access port on truck bed where the pump is.. this way when you need to remove the fuel pump you dont need to drop the tank.. just open the access hole and your there ..

or do i need to do a buzzer light at the relays
ya no warm bodies.. i already chilled lol..

if i shoved the electro probs in my dog and when he gets the shock he will bark.. that be my buzzer.. lol..
gonna try to fix my mulitimeter.. maybe i use a truck horn off the spare truck.. as my buzzer i should be able to hear it then lol

damn so no luck getting your dog to drive for you any time soon lol.

I *think* there is enough room to get in there with your hand, to pull the connector..... There might be a lock tab in there that has to come out first though.

You wanna do the buzzer back at the connector for the gas tank. Test first with it grounded to the frame, to verify you are getting power back there, test the second time across both wires for the pump, to see if it has a good ground.

ok ill try.. still wish companys would do that,, i so was going to do that to this truck long ago, my Cavlaier my sisters sunfire and her dakota truck.. cut a hole in the trunk to pull the fuel pump out.. so much easier then dropping a tank.. but companies dont think that way..

but ill try to reach my hand in there .. hopefully the harness gives me some room to bring it out enough for... need to an old fuel pump cut out the adapter so then plugs into the fuel pump wire harness lol
wishful thinking..

but ok ill give it a try... but how do you test. with a light i had this before.. if you get a ground sometimes its only working partially.. like 3/4 of the wire is not working an 1/4 makes it look like its working but not enough amps can get through.. how do you test that.. i remember in past you use a horn.. if it sounds dull wire or bad ground but if its loud and proud then its working good.. is that how you guys do it too?

but for now ill tackle trying to get access at this harness.. so wish i had a hoist.. on your back not soo fun lol

I have a 3/4 ton truck, and can pretty much sit up under it.... Nope, it's not lifted.

Test light will show you have continuity, but, your right, that's it. Since it runs decent when it does run..... don't think we need to worry about anything else just yet.

No from underneath. Right in front of the tire.
