I've had good luck using RFI chokes in the past for noises through the sound system on various vehicles. Or it unfortunately could be just a byproduct of a 23 year old radio.

You can buy OE radios for like $50 now and they're happy to get rid of them. Mine was a DIN and 1/2 they call it...thanks Dodge. Nobody makes aftermarket HU's that size.......you have to get an adapter face plate.

My OE HU was AM/FM/Cassette/stereo. I was able to find a AM/FM/CD stereo with an equalizer. My son kept telling me my speakers were crapping out with my aftermarket HU....but putting the OE HU unit in there brought them back to great sounding. Pretty much bliss for a work truck.

Your problem is most likely in your HU.

Kevin.
