Post 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 not shifting into "D"

Hi, my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 will not shift into "D." I can manually shift it from first all the way up into drive and it will shift up and down through all of the gears until it gets to 1st. It will not shift back up through the gears from 1st gear, but once I manually set it back to 1st it will then shift all of the gears, up and down, until it again hits 1st gear. Reverse is fine, overdrive is fine. Whatever automatically engages 1st gear is not working. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have already replaced the governor sensor/solenoid. Thank you.

Did you see anything interesting in the pan while you had it off?

Thank you for responding. No, the pan and fluid are clean.

Getting any codes? Got a scanner that can read live data?

The key turn is showing p1757. I do not have a scanner.

Ok, that means the pressure sensor is seeing pressure, when it doesn't think it should. Could be as simple as a dirty pressure solenoid, could be failed valve body as well....... Have you installed a drain plug in your trans pan yet? (Hint, might be a good idea.....) Think I would have a look at the pressure sensor, and solenoid, make sure they are seated good, and don't have a bad o-ring...... You just replaced them recently, right? Was it for the same code/symptoms?

I apologize for not saying this earlier. The original codes were p1594 and p0455.

That's a charging system code, and a large evap leak. First one *might* be related, second one, definitely not. That's a separate issue.

Is the charging system working properly now??

Yes it's working fine. I have never had an issue with the charging system. It isn't showing those codes now and I didn't do anything to fix whatever was causing those codes. (unless the governor sensor or solenoid were causing it) Am I doing any harm to the transmission by driving it? This is my only vehicle and I have to drive it to work every day. It drives absolutely fine when manually shifted. I drive 47 miles to work and 47 back home. It's the dambdest thing, it just will not pull off in drive. Thank you for trying to help me figure this thing out.

Gotta be an electronics problem. Either one of the new sensors is bad, the wiring between the trans and pcm is bad, or the PCM itself is bad.
