Default oil

My old 318s are finally using oil, been using a synthetic 13-30, stays in for 1000 mi then as it gets more miles on it oil consumption starts. All they have for non synthetic is 5-30. What do you guys think??? THX

Don't use synthetic on a tired motor. Synthetic has a smaller molecule witch can help lubricate but it also can leak more. 5W-30 is for low temps up to 32* 10W-30 is for normal use. But if you have a tired motor you can use a thicker oil.

Yeah, but shipping is horrendous....... probably cheaper to just pick it up locally.

What the heck is 13-30 oil???

Good grief, oil is everywhere. Use 10w30 or 10w40. I've used the diesel oil but the engine is louder. 10w40 is the sweet spot for summer and 10w30 for winter. Oh, and my engine has burned two quarts since it was nearly new. Don't worry about using oil.

Order 4 or 5 of the 5 quart jugs and filters

BOSCH 72137WS {#72137} Workshop Oil Filter Info
$2.96
then shipping is pretty cheap. Even with only enough for 1 oil change with shipping it's cheaper than buying it locally, It's $16 at walmart or $6/qt at napa

BOSCH 72137WS
That's the small filter, Don't use them. Use the fram PH8A style filter it's the long style(holds more oil and about twice the filtering).
