‘98 Ram 1500 engine noises
I have a 1998 1500 4x4. I just replaced all the steering linkages and the steering gear box. Prior to, I had a slight ticking while accelerating and it still does. But now it also has almost a grinding/clunking sound while accelerating. The new sound is mostly when the RPMs are between 1700 and 2200. But as soon as I release the pressure on the gas pedal the ticking and grinding/clunking noise all stop. Anyone have any ideas?

I honestly don’t know what that is. The engine was replaced and the transmission was rebuilt before I bought the truck. It has three slight tick when I bought it but the other noise wasn’t there before replacing the steering linkages
I regreased everything after it was all installed.
