Default Headlight bulb options

The 9004 bulbs in my ‘97 are both burnt out, and I’m wondering what my options are. The cheap $10 bulbs throw pathetic light. The $70 Sylvania SilverStar Ultra’s only have a 150 hour bulb life. Should I go LED? If so, what is easy and trouble-free?
Or is the SilverStar still the best option?
FYI, About 5 years ago, my switch melted so I replaced the switch and bought the LMC relay harness if that matters at all.

I would go with a clockable led

How are your headlight housings?

I put the sylvania silver stars in my truck, (not the ultra's though) along with the heavy duty harness from LMC Truck, and new housings.... (the originals were really yellowed) Re-aim the headlights, and I can SEE at night now.

Oh, they’re yellow! I did a headlight restoration kit about 10 years ago, but I suppose I should do another one too. Maybe then the Silverstars would be sufficient, if LED is not the unanimous choice around here?

I'm not really a fan of the restoration kits. I just replaced the housings..... I liked them so much the first time, when I bought another truck, I did it again. (a-mautoparts.com) For less than a 100 bucks, I got new, complete housings. (turn signals as well.) The harness from LMC truck makes the biggest difference though. The headlight switch just controls relays, so, you get better power to the lights.

No experience with LEDs here. So, no real opinion on them.

I've run HIDs and LEDs and will NEVER EVER EVER go back to halogen bulbs. Halogen should be illegal in my opinion. If you do decide to go LED Fahren is a really good company. ALSO MAKE SURE THE LED IS AT THE 3 & 9 O CLOCK IN THE HOUSING!!! If it isn't you'll get a crappy light output

I’d appreciate a link to Fahren, or any other bulbs that guys have had great experience with. There are so many options out there, and not all LEDs are created equal. Not even close. Is there just one Fahren option to replace a 9004?

Correct! I found the best price on Amazon as my aftermarket headlights take an H1. So search "Fahren 9004" on Amazon

You are welcome! I ordered my H1 bulbs and they will be here Saturday but everybody on my other forum love them and the reviews (on Amazon and YouTube) love them!
