Default cam ID help

sorry if I got this in the wrong spot, I recently purchased a 98 1500 with a 5.2, he included a cam he'd purchased for it but never installed, trying to figure out what it is and if I want to install it. He claimed it was a torque cam which im all for, in the end its etched P4532635 which appears to be a part number for a 5.2/5.9 performance cam but google wont give me much more then that, also it has the numbers 70-29-01, not to familiar yet with aftermarket grinds and such

What's the lift on the cam? For stock heads, max they can take is .480.... Even if the lift is under that, still a good idea to use the recommended springs.

That site shows cam specs as

Advance - 260/264
Centerline - 109
Lifts - .458/.467

Im not against getting the springs, just at my current point its got 200k miles on it and oil consumption issue. This weekend im doing the intake plate fix and a water pump. Just thinking for cost of a timinig cover and valve cover gaskets i could show the cam in now since im this close to it and run it awhile, if i still have the oil consumption move on to valve guide seals and/or overhaul and do springs then

Plenum plate likely won't solve your oil consumption, not with that many miles on it. I would be tempted to do a compression test, dry first, then wet, and see what the numbers do. I would bet you will find the rings are worn.

That said..... If oil consumption is still manageable, go ahead and put that cam in there, along with a new timing set. (double roller please. ) Don't worry about the springs.

Tensioner is optional. When I did mine, I didn't bother with it.

alright well based on your ideas maybe ill go ahead and do the comp test first and see what I have, then depending, move onto the water pump so its drivable and see how much oil its really using and go from there. I suppose cheap option just hone and ring it maybe roll in bearings, I have a couple other 318s at home with similar miles unknown history maybe just keep driving it and rebuild one of those and swing it

Rebuilding a spare would likely save you some bucks in the long run.
