Default Transmission after rebuild

Hi, I just had my A 518 transmission completely rebuilt. They said they put in a towing torque converter and updated the old transmission. I have a 1997 dodge ram 1500 5.2 2wd. I got it back yesterday and have put around 40 miles on it. It shifts hard, doesn't shigt at the right times and sometimes when I take off from a red light I feel a little shutter. They used dextron 6 after I ask them to use ATF4. I've read post and know I need to change asap. My question is would that dextron cause the problems im having or could it be a computer issue or need some breakin time ? Im suppose to take it back in 10 days or 100 mikes or it voids the warranty. Thank yoi

Before you do anything, talk to the shop. If you start playin' with stuff, you may void your warranty.

Agreed. Take it back before you do anything.

Agree I would also question their repairs too. I know the wrong fluid will cause a shutter. But how about the band adjustments.

Default A518 transmission rebuild

Thank everyone. Im going to make an appointment with the shop. Now my truck has a really bad thump or misfire. I changed plugs and wires. Gonna change distributor cap per the shop. Is it possible that thump is coming from transmission. It gets worse as the truck warms up. Shutters when im taking off from a read light. Doesnt have any power. And the thump is loud. No codes. 1997 dodge ram 5.2 2wd. Have never had this problem in 20 years. Thank you

Would have to hear the noise to even begin to guess where it was coming from.
