Yessir, I've got 4 techs from 3 different shops scratching their heads. My Mobil Tech's boss man (old school) said pressure switches..or..the new compressor is bad outta the box. 1 other (word of mouth) says it may be in the electronics. I haven't ran across that in ANY research. We will know more in a few days. TY for your input.

Low side pressure is too high. High side pressure is too low..... I would begin to suspect the compressor itself isn't doing its job properly.

It's a NEW DENSO, but I know it's a possibility that it could be bad out of the box. Returning it and getting another one is a bigger hassle than replacing it which I can do in 30 minutes. Those numbers are just what I'm thinking that I remember him trying to explain to me but I'm going to verify and make note on this last attempt after I replace the switches and Schrader valves. WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ON IT BEING IN THE ELECTRONICS AS A POSSIBILITY?

The A/C system on these trucks is dead simple. With the system empty, the compressor should not run. As refrigerant is added, the compressor should start to cycle, high side pressure should build, low side pressure shouldn't go over 40 with the compressor running. If you have equal pressure on both sides, even with the compressor running, either the orifice tube is blown, or the compressor is bad.

What year is your truck? (the electronic controls changed some over the years) If you aren't too far away, I would love to throw a set of gauges on it, and watch what it does.

It is that 1994 5.2 Ram 1500...(same one I had all the transmission trouble on that is now rectified).. I remove the entire orifice tube from the condenser and from the accumulator and blew it out with air and then with water both directions... And of course I removed all the monster afterwards by setting all the pieces in the Sun for our entire day here in Texas and then blowing them out again with 100 lb pressure. Yes I did with all the removable parts. I did not remove the evaporator but I did blow it out and it blew full pressure through both tubes. So do you think I should replace the orifice tube?

Didn't you replace that line?? It should have a new one in it. If not, then yeah, they are cheap, and easy to replace.

If you can, just do the orifice tube. On some, they say it isn't replaceable separately, but, folks still sell just the o/t..... There really isn't a lot to go wrong with an aluminum tube.

Yes RockAuto offers just the what they call DROP IN orifice piece.. only like $11 for the best they got. But I don't understand... Drop into what? Just cut the tube and push it in each end of the tube the OEM looks like a 1-in coupling on the 3/8 aluminum tubing.

Not sure, can't find a real good pic of the system. Can you post pics of what you got?
