Default 5.9 Magnum Swap

I bought an 02 2500 yesterday with the 360. I’m trying to source a running motor while I build mine in the meantime. I’ve found that pre 02 the engine mounts have a different hole design than the 02s do. My question is, can I use a pre 02 engine and just use the old style mounts and still have it fit or is there something else that needs done?

what do you mean hole design? According to the parts manual and my experience they are all the same

Supposedly the 02s and 03 have a 5 hole mounting design for the bracket vs a 3 hole design. This is where the brackets bolt to the block

Are the frame-side mounts the same over the years? If they are, then the clam shell that bolts to the motor should have its mounting hold to the frame side in the same spot. Just make sure your replacement motor comes with 'em.

If true I would think that is only for the 1500 which went to the 3rd gen in 2002. Simple take a look at your motor mounts and see.

The 360 Magnum blocks casting # is 5302006, This is the only # used so the blocks should be all the same.

I was able to get it in the garage and verify, it has the 5 hole design but it uses the old style mounts. I appreciate the help guys!
