Default wax coat frame or e-coat frame

I'm looking in my service manual for torque specifications on my truck and there are two different sets of specs. Wax coat frame or e-coat frame. I have a 1996 dodge ram 2500 4x4 with the V10 engine. Gross vehicle weight is 8800 lbs. Truck was manufactured in Mexico. Does anyone know what frame I have? Thanks

Wow, this is the first I have heard of this one...... You could try running your vin here, and getting a build sheet, that *might* have it.....

Just FYI, I tried that web site, but unfortunately, it won't support a vehicle older than 1998:

Please provide your 17 character VIN to view and print your vehicle equipment sheet, which contains the standard and optional equipment when the vehicle was built.
*Vehicles built before 1998 are not eligible for this functionality.

I tried the VIN of my 1996 Ram 2500 and was greeted by this message:

No records found corresponding to the VIN provided

Is there some other way to determine the type of frame coating type by looking at the frame?

That’s the first thing that came to mind and ultimately what I am going to have to do is simply inspect it…. But I’m just sitting here thinking the truck is so old, whatever coating was on the frame that was put on by the manufacturer has surely deteriorated by now. Could be lucky though. I’ll let you guys know how I make out when I get the chance to crawl under it. I’ve searched high and low on the internet regarding info on wax coat and e-coat on these trucks and it is very scarce.

Yeah, the site says 98 and later, but, I was able to pull one for my 96 when I had it.

I found my answer. Wax coat frame.

Found the info through the comments on a different truck forum. I also crawled under the truck to inspect frame and verified it was indeed wax coat.

Here is the link.
