Default Looking for an AM/FM CD player with a USB port for my 2001 Ram 1500

I'm looking for a replacement for my original AM/FM cassette/CD player. I'm hoping to find something that's as simple to replace when I changed the AM/FM cassette player with what I have now, 20 years ago. I don't want to get into chopping and splicing wires, I'm hoping to find something that I can use the original couplings in the dash to hook up a new radio, or hopefully it comes with an adapter wiring harness. for the original wires.

You will need a wiring harness adapter for the wires. You will also need a mounting kit. When you find a radio you like, you will wire it with the adapter. harness and put it into the mounting kit. This will plug into the factory harness and then bolt right in. As for what radio, there are about 2429 different options

On behalf of many mechanics who have had to deal with chopped wires, thank you.

Well well well, look who I found in the garage this morning as I was cleaning up in there. This is my original radio from my Dodge Ram when I bought it in 2002. and I ordered the AM/Fm cassette/CD player like my brother's 1998 Dodge Ram. I want to thank you sir for your fast reply to my post. I think I'll be happy with this for awhile.

I don't see a CD slot on that unit. Am I missing something?

Yeah, that one looks like a cassette player... and USB wasn't even though of back when that was made. At least, not for car stereos.

I think I have an AM/FM/CD unit out in my garage..... would have to go look.

Does your unit out in the garage have an auxiliary port on it to allow for someone to plug an MP3 player or smart phone by way of a mini plug cable like this? -
Amazon Amazon

Perhaps an auxiliary port might suffice in lieu of a USB port?

No, I don't see any type of connection that, that type of cord would connect to.

Thanks so much, I actually came across the original AM/FM cassette player that was in my 2001 Ram when I bought it in 2002. It's still brand new and I think I'll just use it.

If that unit doesn't have an auxiliary port on it to accept a 3.5mm stereo cable plug, since it does have a tape player, you could purchase a cassette tape with auxiliary cable to play music from an MP3 player or smart phone thru your unit. Here is an example of one -

Sorry, but I meant that reply for HeyYou. Glad you checked your unit, too.
