is there a reason that if I have 4wd it shouldn't work? From what I've seen if the caliper mounting bracket fits where the stock 2000 fits I could probably make it work. But obviously more research is needed on my part

Made a huge difference. I can actually brake with confidence with my 285s. It was always scary before. The calipers are the same size they just have a larger piston and larger pads. Rotors are the same size too. Even if they fit the same mounts on the knuckle on your 2000 they probably won't be much better than your dual piston. I would just get some fresh calipers, solid rotors, and cheap pads. (You want the pads to wear, not the rotor.) That should be enough braking for you.

Last year I did the full swap with 2500 calipers, new rotors and pads up front, and new cylinders, shoes, and kits out back. Brakes like a new truck.

yea I replaced all my brakes less then 4 months ago. They feel fine but I was just thinking if I can make a quick upgrade I might as well next time.

The 3rd gen rotors are almost 2 inches larger in diameter. If the only thing that changed (aside from that) is the caliper bracket, would be a nice upgrade, question is, does your truck actually have a separate bracket? Or does it bolt directly to the knuckle?

I feel like I remember it having a separate bracket, but I'm gonna have to check tomorrow. I'm hoping it's got a separate bracket.
