I have a question and it might sound pretty stupid but here it goes. Will a Chrysler 440 with a 727 transmission fit in a 1998 dodge ram 1500? Asking for a friend...

 

Absolutely! Plenty of videos on YouTube with them. Oh, And that's not a stupid question.

 

Yep, plenty of room. There will be mount fabrication, but I'd be surprised if there aren't already kits to do just that. As for computers, except for an electronic ignition brain box, it's ALL mechanical.

 

Remember, There are no dumb questions, the only dumb question is the one you don't ask. There a lot of smart members here and if one doesn't know someone else will.

 

The fun part will be getting the gauges to work on the 98. The cluster gets its clue for what to do with all the gauges and such from the PCM. With the 440, I suspect there isn't going to be a PCM........

 

Aside from the CEL could a could guy hook up all the sensors from the PCM? Tach might be the only issue, could find a Non Tach cluster

 

I would think so... The PCM just sends what data it gets from the sensors down the communications bus. Speedo gets its clue from the rear wheel speed sensor (via the PCM), so that's not an issue. Could probably fab something up for the crank sensor/tach.
