So I have a thread up about a 46re with some weird shift behavior. I solved the issue. My truck is a 99, I was told the new trans was a 99 but it was actually a 2000, so I did some missing and fixed everything up. Truck drove perfectly yesterday and this morning then all of a sudden wouldn’t shift out of first gear. I didn’t do a band adjustment which I know was not a great idea but I was wondering if anyone had some ideas why the truck would just suddenly not shift, no check engine lights, no codes, no dash lights.
If you manually put the shift into low gear and move it up to drive, Does the transmission shift thru the gears?

If the transmission doesn't shift thru the gear while moving the lever from low to drive. Your problem may lay in the valve body. Write down or take a picture of the number on the case. So we can help you with the type of transmission you have. Don't go by the VIN number on this.

well I have an update, my dad and I drove around and found that if you floor it to 5000 then let off completely it’ll shift normally through the gears until you come to a stop and have to do it over again. So I solved this issue i think. I adjusted the TV cable towards the radiator. It is now shifting at 4000 RPM once I let off, I think the let off might be the ECU learning the new Properly working parts, I had a Honda Pilot that would learn with broken parts then learn again with working ones. But I just need to adjust it a little more towards the radiator I think to get it to the shift points I want.

After having my 46RE rebuilt and beefed up earlier this year, I found out the hard way that the TV cable is a major part that controls the transmission shift points. I recently replaced the TV cable on my truck since it would sometimes bind and cause the transmission not to shift properly. It would also bind so bad that it would yank the lever off the top of the transmission shaft. I ended up replacing the TV cable, adjusting it properly and have had no further issues with shifting problems.
4000 RPM is still way too high for proper shifting points. I'd suggest adjusting your TV cable according to the video link below, clearing the computer by disconnecting the battery cables and try driving it again.
