I currently have a 99 Ram 1500 4x4, it has a 318 magnum with a 46re. I hate the 46re and love the magnum but it just doesn’t have enough pep and I don’t like how expensive performance parts are. I have finally decided that a 5.7 is the way to go but I was wondering if anyone had some knowledge of parts I could find that would make the conversion a little smoother (motor mount, trans mounts… etc), I also was wondering what manual trans options I hav. Thank you for the info in advance! (I have been using “diyhemi.com” for some of my research)
Nobody here has done this but somewhere someone has. The job would be extensive including: mounts, harness, computer, gauges, grounds, radiator/fan, etc., etc., etc.
The manual that went behind the hemi is the G56 (Getrag) until 2010 and was also used until 2018 with the Cummins. There are other high horse power options out there as well (Tremec).
I would guess with custom tuning, custom install, harness/pcm, and trans/driveline conversion you're well into the 20k plus range. Is that really worth it?

I have done it twice now. HEMI and the magnums share the same bolt pattern so 4500, G56, and a few others. I personally went with the new auto8spd. Just be warned just the wiring, pedal, and computer is $3500. Everything mounting wise is the same.

how are motor mounts? What solutions did you use? That one is my main concern

Dang, you've been holding out on us! You've swapped 2 hemis into 2nd gens??? Where's the writeup with a thousand pics?
ok so motor mounts are pretty simple then, what about trans? You said you used the 8 speed auto, how did that fit?
Fit well problem is programming it. I had a shop do that.

I kind of am but life got in the way. My forgeries just bought a 97 and I've been helping her with that. Mine I decided to do a Hellcat halfway through but I have a video of it running with a 5.7L Hemi. Honestly there are a lot of variables. Easiest way would be get a pre made harness ($3500 with Hemi pedal, and PCM). I am going to do a write up this summer once I get the few bugs worked out. I built my own harness though. Overall not for everybody. I have about $7500 in parts. For another $2500 you can get a 500hp magnum 360. With this damn virus Hemi motors are pricey.
