It fixed it yesterday, but today i went to start it up and got the same no bus as before. I unplugged the headlights and it didn't work this time. I think i have a wire or sensor shorting out somewhere, now to find where

Yeah, that's the fun part.....

Turn the ignition on, if you see the No Bus message, start unplugging sensors on the 5 volt bus, one at a time. See if the cluster comes back after you unplug each one. May or may not find the problem, but, its a place to start.

I havent had much time to work on my truck due to weather, so i havent unplugged anything. Yesterday i disconnected the battery and let it sit for a a bit while it rained, and the problem went away. I drove a few miles to confirm, and it was gone. No abs light or code. However when I went to start it today, I got the no bus code. I will start unplugging stuff this weekend but I'm wondering, why would it be fine except when I let it sit overnight?

Usually sensors fail when warn but they could fail when cold

The no bus issue went away for a bit but now it is back. I have unplugged all throttle body sensors, and crank pos sensor and so far nothing changed. It will sometimes come back on randomly, but it will always go back to no bus in the morning. It also has occasionally cut out for a half second when driving and sometimes will surge in rpm. (Both usually at light throttle) Any idea where to check next?

Anything on the 5 volt bus can cause that. O2 sensors are notorious for it.

Dumb question but 1) to test I can just unplug the electrical connector correct? 2) if one of those are the case can I drive with it unplugged for a bit?
