Full throttle no 1-2 shift
Running a 98 2wd 1500. 5.9 gas 46re transmission. driving around normal it shifts fine. But if you take off from idle full throttle it won't shift from 1st to 2nd unless you let off the throttle. Ive changed governor pressure sensor, checked tv cable adjustment.
anybody on here ever had that problem and how did you fix it?

At what speed do you need to back off the throttle? If the problem was 2nd to 3rd gear I would say its the transmission seals. 1st to 2nd in most cases is a kick down problem.
it will go past 5500rpm and start floating the valves. But with regular driving it shifts fine.
I had the trans rebuilt in 2017 so I'm pretty sure that's nit the problem. I removed the valve body thinking that perhaps the 1-2 shift valve spring broke but it was fine. Upon inspection of the valve body I did notice 4 screws loose that hold the valve body together were loose. They were hand tight. Once the weather cleans up and I can get back underneath the truck I'll reassemble everything and hopefully that's what the problem is.

When I rebuilt my transmission, first time anyone was in there at 85-86K miles, I had 3 loose bolts in my valve body. 1 about 3/4 inch out, 1 about 2 threads loose, and the other hand tight, all 3 were on the driver side of the VB. Burnt FWD Drum Clutch Pack and Burnt OD Unit Clutch Pack. I think the loose screws were the problem for the burnt clutch packs.
