Right front axle seal leaking
Did my wheel bearing couple weeks ago and must have nicked the seal for the right front. I know you have to take out of intermediate shaft and the vacuum box on the axle to get to the seal. Anyone have any tips to knock the old seal out? Also to put the new one in? I saw a tool on line that was machined for these trucks but didn’t know if someone has a different idea.
Use a long extension, or screwdriver, insert it from the outboard side of the axle tube, and tap the seal out. It won't be rusted in there, so, should come out fairly easy. Another option is to use a long screwdriver, go in thru the hole where the cad use to be, and simply lever it out. Not like you care if you destroy it, gonna replace it anyway.
Seal might not actually be nicked?
when I replaced the ball joints on 2001 4x4 with 190K I was warned the seals might leak afterwards. One side did. I added Blue Devil seal reconditioning fluid and leak stopped completely. Sometimes you get lucky.

Yeah I remember seeing that somewhere couple years ago but this is leaking pretty good. Not like seeping. After doing research really only hardest thing is putting the seal in. Thankfully I put a ton of anti seize on the hub when I did it so should come off easy

Replaced the seal. Was sorta pain in the *** once got the seal to go in straight went in kinda easy. Drove it 8 miles parked it didn’t see any dripping. Could also be didn’t drive it long enough for it to go leak out the axle tube.
