I got to thinking. (Bad habit that, it gives me headaches) I did a quickie search. The KDP happens through the 2002 model years. I've never dealt with the problem as I have only worked on a few oil burners over the years. This will give you an idea what to look for.

Hopefully it isn't the issue.

Either the PCM is thoroughly confused, or, there is some variety of mechanical failure inside the trans itself. I would expect the latter to show some signs though.... carnage in the pan, etc.

So would I but the fluid is clean, nothing on the magnet and no pieces of anything. As far as the pcm goes. There was that code for the 3-4 solenoid but we replaced it and cleared the code. No other codes and it's still stuck in 3rd gear.

Then something is jammed up in the valve body.

However, if the engine doesn't run, the trans is the least of your worries...... Even if it is stuck in gear, given it's an automatic, you should still be able to turn the engine, unless, there is a problem with the engine....

At this point it's anybody's guess. The screeching sound might have been the torque converter seizing up after something broke in the transmission. That would explain why the engine doesn't turn. Maybe remove the starter and see if you can (carefully !) crowbar the engine back and forth via the starter ring gear. The transmission has to come out either way I believe.

Unfortunately, while I know a lot about a lot of things, transmissions are one things I've never done much with. I can pull and replace them. That's about it.

Started cranking it over but this time it while cranking it got harder and harder to turn over until it stopped cranking and locked up.
I would drop the pan(motor) and see if there is anything wrong in the motor. If you spun a bearing that would explain why you can't turn the crank.

I don't think it's a bearing. When it was running, the engine itself sounded great. No noises or anything what so ever.
