Actually, that's how I found out that my aftermarket BWD crank sensor was bad (got about 3 years of intermittent driving out of it). The truck died in the middle of the road. Pulled over to the side and hooked up the scanner. Pending code was shown that the crank sensor was intermittently failing. Ordered a brand new Mopar crank sensor, installed it and have no further issues.

As far as I know neither has been changed. Drove it today to work and it started normal and ran good as it does. I would like not to get stuck on the road myself. lol Thanks

I certainly didn't like getting stuck on the road either, however, it turned out to be quite the learning experience and I was able to get the truck up and running well enough to get home. Nothing like the dependability of a well maintained Ram truck!

Yeah I agree. I don't mind investing to achieve this. I have done a lot of work on this truck to get it where it is now. I'm looking at putting new shocks front and back to bring back a smoother ride. My wife bought this truck with 21,000 miles and she had very little issues with it over the years. She was good about keeping it maintenance up. The transmission slipping was what caused it to sit for sometime along with her illness. Her wish was it to be passed on to our daughter so this is why I am hard at work to getting back up to best condition. I'm on the fence with this transmission because the issue seems to be with second to third shift/ slip when cold but goes away once warm. ( Little off subject to thread) Once into third the rpms drop down to normal range and it drives as smooth as silk. This is why I question the band may be worn and if changed may solve the slip and longer shifts? It also could be a sign that its getting time for a rebuild as well?. I have seen a couple of videos on changing it removing the valve body that requires tapping the clipping part down enough to pull it through without removing the transmission and tearing apart it apart but most shops don't like doing this. I didn't continue to drive it with it slipping other then when I was trying to solve it so it wasn't abuse. Like I was saying earlier. When first cold, I baby it on the shift but maybe 5 to 10 minutes of driving the slipping stop on the shift from 2nd to 3rd. I am going to talk to the trans guy and explain this and see what he thinks. Maybe he can do the band adjustment on it? I tried a while back but it's a pain for me to get to. As to the starting , I will just have to see how that goes. So for it hasn't given me any issues.

Understand the desire to change those shocks. I've done my rear shocks when I installed the disc brake Dana 60 rear and it made the truck much less bouncy when driving the truck with an empty bed. I still have to replace the front shocks soon, along with installing the 2" leveling kit, as I'm still getting more bounce than desired in the front.

As for the transmission, I just had my transmission rebuilder rebuild my 46RE transmission last year. The transmission rebuild was overdue and my transmission pretty much gave up and stopped shifting properly, so I decided to get it rebuilt and beefed up for towing (shift improvement kit, 48RE parts, added clutches, billet pistons instead of the plastic stuff, new electronics, deep transmission pan, etc.).

Doesn't seem bouncy but man you feel every bump in the road.I would like a smoother ride if possible. Just not sure what to look for.

Transmission beef up is sounding pretty good. I will talk to the guy that will be doing it. It wouldn't hurt and my boat not bad. Maybe 2,000 including trailer. I will look into that. Thanks

It's a truck. It is never going to ride as nice as a car.....

That said, putting some serious weight in the bed of my trucks, smoothed out the ride considerably. However, running around with a couple thousand pounds of dirt in the bed, really isn't practical for every day use.

LOL, it's never going to drive like a car but it was a lot smoother then now.It has new tires I know the shocks haven't been replaced so I think it's due. I'm just not sure what to look for in brand? LMC dashboard are on back order so I will just shift improvements in other areas. Keep at her until I'm happy. Thanks Guys

Geno's Garage sells 'em too. Might check there.

There is a thread in the FAQ/DIY section with a poll of what shocks folks are using.

Well so far it's been starting normal. Still dealing with a light flutter. My only guess would maybe the cam sensor but not sure? Everything is new as to plugs to cap so that shouldn't be the reason. I'm still thinking of replacing the injectors with new ones but most seem to feel they don't really go bad. I have been driving it daily to work. Tank was cleaned when pump was replaced and I have ran a injector cleaner in the tank. It's running pretty good and gas millage seems to be as normal. I will just keep going. Thanks'
