99 1500 Seatbelt light no chime
Hi fellas
I have the seat belt light on without the chime going off, harnesses are connected under the seats, the harnesses has been cleaned/inspected and disconnected/reconnected without broken wires, disconnected the battery for 48 hours and I'm just at a loss here. I've tried clipping up all the seat belts and still have the same problem. I'd hazard a guess and say either broken wires inside the seat belt itself or something behind the dash is cracked up. I've also disconnected every connector I could find coming to and from the seats minus the seatbelt timing control module. Any suggestions would be invaluable and I appreciate your advice in advance.

I am unsure of just how the system determines if someone is actually sitting in the seat..... I would suspect that it only really pays attention to the drivers seat belt though, as the truck ain't goin' nowhere without a driver. Possible the switch in the latch side is bad, and never closes when you buckle up. Trick would be see which wires are responsible for that aspect of it, and test the theory. If you don't already have one, you can download the service manual for your truck from here. Wiring diagrams are in section 8W.

I'm a little confused by the question but as I read it, I'm understanding that the seat belt alarm is not going off, and you would like it to? Not saying it doesn't exist but I've yet to own a 2nd gen that had a seatbelt alarm that went off. If they do actually have an alarm I'm guessing it could be disabled just like it can be on the newer trucks, a series of key cycles and belt latch clicks. the procedure is in the owners manual. What I am aware of on seatbelt chimes is they're triggered by vehicle speed something like >15mph without the belt clipped.

So after I start the truck up, about 15 or 20 seconds go by and the seat belt indicator light turns on and doesn't chime or make any noise, which I don't want it to and I'm thankful for that it doesn't make any noise. I'm trying to get the seatbelt light to go off and stay off. I've previously replaced the ABS sensor on the rear diff but the ABS light, brake light and seat belt light remain on.

So even with the seat belt latched the light stays on? I have tied the wires together and made the light permanently off, however certain trim levels seem to have a more involved/complex seat belt system then others it seems. I swapped seats once on good set of known working seats from one truck to another (buddy and I traded leather for cloth) and the cloth seat seatbelt would not unwind from the seat after swapping into my truck

Sure, I'd find the wires feeding into the belt, or maybe find a connector under the carpet/flooring/seats. With everything connected as it should be, pierce or backprobe and check for continuity -- I'm guessing it defaults open. If so, it should likely close when the belt is buckled. You could test by jumpering and see if light goes away.
If it doesn't close with belt buckled the problem is in the belt latch at right hip, or perhaps wiring from floor to latch
