Default 99 1500 4wd steering parts

I've just obtained this truck as a trade and trying to fix it up. Had horrible play in the steering and found tie rod bad... anyhow. Found another part that has some play but not horrible but I have no clue what it is. It's not the pitman arm but maybe a certain style or adaptation of an idler arm but it looks way different this truck has a serious lift on it. I'm pretty much a virgin on lift kits and trying to learn as I go. I've added a few pics to help

Wow, never seen anything like that..... Can you post some wider shots? And maybe from both sides as well.

If the slop is in that shaft, might be able to tighten it up... or replace bearings?

I'll try to get some wider shots. It has a grease sert too I may try to load it up and try to crank on the bolts. I'm afraid wider shots may make it harder to see

It also has a Dick Cepek suspension stamp on it .

Alright. that IS a weird setup.... Wonder why they just didn't use a drop pitman arm....

Where is the slop you are trying to get rid of? I don't think anything there on the right side, up top, is going to matter.

The slop is more in the smaller part than the big part that's in the first picture. That piece connects over to the pitman arm. Which is fine. I feel like an idiot not knowing what to call it. It's not even a lot and driving it seems fine. I have just never seen this before

I never knew but apparently DC did offer custom steering for their 6" lift. I found 2 threads that mention it but no pics

I also found another thread or two at pavementsucks.

Some guys swear it's the best thing EVAR while others say it's junk. And yeah, apparently the whole idea was to avoid a drop pitman arm.

I'd love to see this steering kit in person, I'm just curious..

Looks like it is supposed to keep the steering gear from moving and putting extra stress on the the pitman arm. But in doing so added a lot of weight, That thing looks to be solid plate steel 1 inch thick! You will have to contact Dick Cepek and see if they still make it or have parts. I wouldn't be surprised to find out they don't make it anymore.
