Default Relay is very warm to the touch

Title says it, the truck has been turned off for several hours and the circled relay is warm to the touch. I should add that after driving, when I park and turn the ignition off there is a burning electrical smell coming from the fuse box area. It's strange, I can't smell it when driving, just after I park and kill the engine. Any ideas on what's causing this?

That's the time delay relay. So, getting hot isn't a surprise. I don't think it comes into play until AFTER you shut off the engine...... It may be failing, so, probably wouldn't hurt to just replace it.

My thoughts also… when the contacts get worn down it starts arcing (generating heat)… so it won’t be long before it either quits working, or the relay case starts melting and then it quits working ;-)
