I found some kits that include all the hydraulics and a new flywheel for around $300-$400

I find it much easier to tow heavy on the hills with a manual, autos like to overheat.

My truck has the heavy duty package, so, there is a MONDO trans cooler in front. Never had a problem overheating it..... Of course, I have 33" tires, and 4.56 gears too.....

Right. I was looking for people who are towing with 1500s that were manual to gather info from them. In the previous posts I mention Im trying to retire my 06 Silverado it’s an auto with a 4L60e due to it being such a clean truck I don’t want to destroy it by working out of it. So I picked up my 99 Ram. 👍

A manual is much better to tow with, better gearing, direct connection to the drivetrain so no slipping torque converter in the lower gears, wastes less power, more control, don't have to worry about it hunting for gears, and the 46RH/RE and 47RH/RE autos are both crappy transmissions all together unless you spend a few thousand upgrading them. For towing hands down a manual is the way to go.

I've seen them often on REALLY heavy duty trucks. They are used to cool the engine oil. It's fairly common. GM had an issue back in the 1990's with them blowing the gasket between the block and oil filter adapter.

I’m familiar with the oil coolers but I haven’t seen a transmission cooler on a manual trans yet but there is still a lot to see in this world.

The ZF 6 speed manual used in 99-10 Superdutys has a cooler.
