Ok thank you. I’ll give it a try and see if I can at least get it figured out for when my new pcm comes in.

Can confirm PCM failed when I shut it down. Plugged in the one from the 98 318 and it fired right up.

Given the age and use of these trucks, PCM failure is much more common than it used to be...

Installed my remain PCM and fired the truck up. Ran beautifully. Shut it down to finish straightening up the shop and fix one hose vacuum leak and went to start it to back it out and test drive and again, no power to the coil. hooked up the PCM from the 318 since I still have it and power to coil. Continuity tested C1 pin 7 and it passes. Now I'm trying to figure out what caused both PCM's, the factory '01 and the new one to fail after one start and run, but the 318 I was able to start it 4 or 5 times. What should I look for and does anyone know where the ground wire on the coil goes to so I can continuity test that one.

Keep in mind, you only get power to the coil for about 3 seconds at initial key on, after that, only if the PCM sees the engine turning. (crank sensor signal.)

Disregard. Was testing wrong. PCM is good. Got it running but now it’s being a pain to start after shutting down. Believe the plugs are foiled from so much fuel trying to start it. Have a performance distributors cap, rotor, 10mm wires and coil coming in tomorrow. Going to get some new plugs and try that and see if I can fix that.

That’s correct. Currently running NGK ZFR6F11, going to get a set of the ZFR7F11 when I do it all tonight.
