Default 440 adapter kit

Just thinking down the road a bit. Keep seeing these threads about what do you do when you get backed in a corner where something fails and you can no longer get the computer module you need, or some other unobtainium?

Anybody tried this kit? I realize it's gonna be a pain when it comes to sensors but maybe if you were really serious about keeping the truck heres's your chance at that custom dash you always wanted.
Surely you could get a 440 running pretty nice these days with some Holley fuel injection etc.
I mean, I just like the way these trucks look. Especially when frame etc are still ready to go it would be such a shame to decommision one for something like a computer.
Not that I'm ready to do a swap now butjust thinking about what if.

Interesting. Though, you would have to REALLY build the snot out of your trans to stand up to 440.

I know the NV4500 I have isn't the HD version the diesels get but it has been one of the few systems on my vehicle that has been abolutely flawless since I bought it. I wonder what it can handle and still be reliable. I would run reliability minded torquey stump pulling truck kind of a tune and would think that would be about right for this truck.

A 440 produces GOBS of torque though, and if it's built as a Truck motor... that number just gets crazier. I bet a well built 440 could twist your NV4500 into a pretzel, without much effort.

Edit: Theoretically, the NV4500 (standard duty) is rated for 460 ft/lbs. That's pretty respectable.

I think buying the whole motorhome for less money would be the hot ticket.

You want a pre 1970 block, They came with forged cranks. The motor home transmissions had the larger bands/drum(same as the hemi) but both can be swapped in if you didn't have them. There are a few post on other forums about swapping to a RFE trans(more speeds than a 46re/rh). Ultimately swapping to a ZF8HP(8 speed) would be the most fun. According to wikipedia a variant of it came behind the hellcats. Here is a thread of somebody who made one from a Jag fit behind a 440. You can buy stand alone controllers for it. Would like to see somebody make adapters to fit more mopar engines

That sounds amazing but the thing I always have to watch is running up more cost than I can handle. Does the motor home transmission or ZF8HP conversions allow for me to continue using my existing transfer case etc., or is it opening up more cans of worms. I was wondering if it would make more sense, if I were on a constrained budget, to try and get my NV4500 a bit stronger. Realistically, even a mild 440 would probably be plenty for my needs.
