I just look it up out curiosity and they run $245. That's not a cheap swap.

Second to third holds at times depending on speed. At 35 mine will take a bit longer to go into third and then into 4th and lockup. If it''s to the boards it shifts at close to red line. Down shifting/passing gear works pretty normal, squish the pedal and it goes in. Mine will downshift from fourth to second depending on speed and pedal position.

I got the 35's on and be glad you have a low stall converter. 3.55 gears eventually going to 4.56 and lockers. 4.10's if I can get the whole axles.
Right now so far it's shifting pretty good. I am going to drive it to work and back tomorrow to see how it does. The whirling sound I had seems to have gone away. As for the particles. My guess would be breaking in the new parts and the fact it spun pretty bad the other day. I almost thought I wouldn't make it back. I just don't want anything to clog up. That was my only concern. At least straining it , would help getting bigger parts out as well bugs seem to have gotten into the tranny fluid I had in a pan covered up.lol. Guess they wanted to die? After everything was drained and strained. I only loss a quart of fluid. Man that drain plug is a money saver.
This truck is pretty much stock. My next project once everything good is to finish doing the interior. Bought new cushion and cover for driver side but getting the bolts out are being a pain but that can wait for now. lol

After 500-700 miles change the filter and 4 new qts of oil. The filter won't let the small particles in. 4 years ago I got mine with 86K for 5K. Almost pristine inside after I changed glovebox and bezel, underneath has very little surface rust. I got it home and my tranny crapped out.

Sounds like a good millage to do a change. I believe I will have to do a minor TV cable adjustment to tweak the shift but I want to run it first for a little longer.
I just figure getting out as much as I can. Wife bought this truck with 21,000 miles on it back in 99. It has 166,000 miles with little to no real problems. I have replaced the main dash. Trans side track me on top and a few more interior.

So far so good. I am going to adjust the TV cable in the morning about a 1/16th to shorten the shift a tad bit. 1st to 2nd tad long but not bad but 2nd to 3rd shifts around 2300 rpm. I just want to drop that to maybe 2000prm ( trucks seems to like it better there). It's almost like it topping out there, if that makes any sense? I adjusted bands and electronics change but didn't touch the TV cable. Anything after that is so smooth that I can hardly feel it. I tried to do a video and failed. Maybe need to make something that could old my phone. I still thinking of maybe getting a new TV cable here in the next few months. Over all. It has improved a lot. Thanks again.

I think it's time to maybe get this trans tested 1st and 2nd are not with in a good range when shifting. 1st is a little longer range but 2nd to 3rd is basically topping out before it will change, After that, it shifts good and smooth and reverse isn't having any issues. The only thing that is left to change would be the TV cable since this one could be stretched since it's original. I am currently trying to find a new one. If anybody can link em this. I would appreciate it. It's a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2L 46RE transmission. I am going to cut down driving it till I can replace it. I am going to make something that can hold my phone to do a video for you guys this coming weekend. I can't guarantee you will hear it when it does that tall shift but the tach should give some idea of what I am trying to explain. Something isn't happy but I think it's more and less minor but I just can't seem to find it.

This part isn't easy to find. Summit didn't carry it and Chrysler discontinued it. This is going to be fun.
