I may have to go that route. Hate to see the shipping cost. lol. I am going to give this cable another chance this weekend. I am going to pull both end loose and see if maybe run some cleaner and lubricant through the cable. Then see if I can try the video adjustment again and maybe a couple small adjustments. If same results then just go ahead and replace it. It's just weird that micro adjustments either same or extreme. 1st to 2nd is running 2000rpm and 2nd to 3rd is going up to 2500rpm.It sounds like it at max at that point. Normal shifts in the past is maybe around 1500 then 2nd to 3rd around or close to 2000 rpms which feels like a smooth shift. After that it shifts fine. If I have to get a new cable and it doesn't solve issue, then I will have to take it to be tested to see what is going on. I believe it's most likely a simple fix that I may be over looking? Thanks for giving me the link. It's sad to see how parts are getting hard to find anymore.

Interesting - that was the part number HeyYou provided for that eBay item I found. It's sold out now anyway.

That is where it gets confusing when you look a number or it says it's for the truck but after you do a fit check. It says it doesn't fit. My thought if it works with a 318/5.2 and 46re. Why wouldn't it fit? I don't understand since the distance should be the same or length I mean.

The MOPAR part number you need is the key item to look for and whether or not the part is genuine MOPAR or not. In my experience, the eBay feature of whether or not the part fits is still evolving and is most likely not accurate. You can also find the part number for a particular item in the truck's parts manual located here - https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...s-manuals.html

They may say it doesn't fit because the part has been updated.... I think the current suffix on 'em is AD.....

You guys are Awesome. Thanks.

I took the whole thing loose and pulled out the nipple and brought it back to where I remember it was and checked to make sure it lined up and it's shifting a lot better. It's back to more like it was shifting better. My question is this. Does the computer now need to time to learn the shift pattern? I either heard or read somewhere that the computer will re-lean a transmission after being rebuilt. I'm curious. I'm still going to get a new replacement cable either way.

The computer will relearn your driving style every time it is reset. That includes the trans, though, how much wiggle room is there, is a mystery to me. It will also 'adjust on the fly' if some thing changes... It just seems to learn quicker after a full reset.

Thanks, I wasn't for sure on that. I'm not sure what is a full reset but it's shifting more normal times at this point. Little hard but I am thinking once I can do some longer long runs, maybe they will soften up. Just going to take it easy and hopefully get a new cable in a couple of weeks. Time to knock down some bills I got from doing this. lol.
