Definitely the wrong color. What's up with the valve body screws? With the magnet full of fine particles the transmission looks tired and used. I suggest a full rebuild with a new/rebuilt low stall torque converter. JY transmissions are a crapshoot. You can't go by mileage as I only had 86K on mine with 2 clutch packs burnt when I rebuilt mine.

Man, yours look horrible compared to mine when I dropped it. My magnet was clean. I just did my first rebuild and these guys have helped a lot. The rebuild wasn't really bad but I had to get a press to do my overdrive due to spring under dangerous load. That I will admit was little scary but I did it. I'm just working some bugs out on mine. If you look at my ongoing post. I have link there that walks through a 46re to 48 rebuild from tear down to reassembling. Good luck Sir. I wished I could help.

Those are the filter screws, but you think it's just old and weak?

Yup, that's what I'd do/did.

That magnet looks scary with all that on it. I was blessed mine was clean and fluid was red. My question would be having something in that condition. Would that be concerns with internal damage?

Nope, the magnet is working. Normal for it to look like this with many miles on it. Mine looked about the same.

I have 166,000 on it and it was super clean. Maybe I got lucky?

Somebody might have changed the filter and oil a few times.

Yeah, I have changed it a few times during part replacement but I don't ever remember having that much on the magnet. I wish you luck with your transmission.
