Default ECM break down

I've got a '96 Dodge Ram 1500/5.2. My ECM went **** up recently. I replaced it n she's on the road again. Does anyone know how to safely separate the shell halves without destroying the circuit board within???

Isn't there just some screws that hold it together? (and corrosion for years hiding under the hood?) Also, the board is potted, and clearing that stuff out without destroying it is fun, at best...

Can't hurt to try. If it's bad already, not like you are going to make it worse.

N there's the offending device. Not potted, but burnt, chemically from the electrolytic caps.

How about some more pics? How did it come apart? I am surprised it wasn't potted......

As you might be able to tell from the from pic, the circuit board is nothing more than mylar coated flat wire/tracings. Unfortunately, in my case, the electrolyte paste is like alien blood to the board and components around it.

'Fixable', is a relative term. Yes, I believe it's 'fixable', but I have no schematics to verify my work, ya know?
