Default Brake shoes rubbing

I just got done replacing 2 broken rear wheel studs and after getting them in I went to put the drum back on and the shoes were blocking it from going on. I think I messed up by moving the shoes left and right to try and fit them inside the drum. But anyways I forced the drum back on and now when I'm driving and hit a bump, the brake shoes are rubbing and its making a scraping/grinding noise.

How did the shoes look when you had the drums off? Is the baking plate rubbing the drum somewhere??

The shoes still had some life in them but I'm not sure what the backing plate is. What do I need to look at to see?

Backing plate is what all the brake stuff is mounted to. The shoes are supposed to rub on the drum a bit, but, it shouldn't be something you can hear while driving....

Might try rocking the truck back and forth a bit, stabbing the brakes pretty hard on the stops. Repositions/readjusts things... assuming the self adjusters are actually working.

I think that might be it. I don't have it apart right now but can the backing plate bend? I think it might've bent it. Would that make it rub?

The backing plate is pretty stout unless compromised by rust. Did you pry on it to get drum to slide off?

No the drum slid off fine but when I went to put it back on I had to beat the brake shoes side to side to finally get it to slide on

The shoes shouldn't really be affected by "hitting a bump." Are you sure this is what you're hearing?

Next time it happens see if you can slowly apply the parking brake. If the noise goes away then it probably is the shoes but I still wouldn't fully understand the cause.

edit: unless you dislodged something and a spring or pin is floating around in the drum
