I was looking on eBay and found a cleaning machine for a reasonable price that should do what I need. It with in a good budget price and I could do routine maintenance yearly. Considering my issue seems like more of a dirty issue, this should help. Maybe take a couple of weeks to save the cash up but long term would be pay for it self. https://www.ebay.com/itm/23436714211...CABEgKMPfD_BwE

Here is how I cleaned mine. I took a 12 volt aC adapter and plugged it into a power strip with a on/off switch. I crimped spade connectors onto the end of each wire. I had to squish the spade connectors to make them more narrow.
now I could put each wire on a connector for the injector. After that all I had to do was engage the rocker switch to on the power strip to open the injector solenoid.

Then I took a can of carb cleaner and I put a vacuum hose splice on the end of the red tube with adhesive. Then I put a piece of tubing on the outside of the vacuum splice. I think I used adhesive heat shrink to make it stay together under pressure.

At this point I put the tubing on the outlet of each injector. I pushed the switch and sprayed injector cleaner through each injector… Backwards to clean the screens by back flushing. Afterwards I turned them around and did them all forwards, and made sure I got a good spray pattern out of the injectors.

I sent you a message. I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2 single cab. I myself have done a lot of work to this truck since sat for sometime. I just rebuilt the transmission myself. These guys helped me out a lot with good advice. I did the plenum upgrade as well. These guys are great.

Going to make a few runs to get carb cleaner and hose to make a cleaning tool as pictured. It threw a PO420 code so after researching, my guess would be most likely one or more of my injectors /misfire has brought this code on since I just replaced both O2 sensors after I did the transmission. It be all over the place with the misfire issue. sometimes barely can feel them to lightly rough idle then back again to light misfire. Most likely Sunday morning will be when I pull them. Will update.

Just spend the $$ for a matched set of injectors that are professionally cleaned off EBay. Do you have an ultrasonic cleaner? Don't skimp on these if you suspect a problem. You don't know if they work properly without doing some type of flow bench to make sure all injectors are working within specs. You can have an injector that's not putting the same amount of fuel but the pulse width is the same as the others. They are at a minimum 22 years old for a 2001 and many parts will have to be replaced if it has any miles on it. Maintenance needs to be done with ownership. Parts are starting to dry up for these. Be glad it's not a BMW X5 part 22 years old. I had a open injector just pouring gas into the cylinder. I bough the rebuilt/refurb ones from EBay and man that pepped the engine up a bit. 250K

I went ahead and did the same so I should see them by next weekend. I will give these a good cleaning for now. I can get a simple ultrasonic cleaner to use for now. I figure a good clean should help till the other ones get in.

Sorry, been busy here. I did do a ultrasonic cleaning with the reverse then forward pressure clean the the injectors. They are running a lot smoothing but I still can feel a slight miss going on when running at a level speed. The professional rebuilt injectors will be in by Friday if no delays. Once replaced, I can go from there. I believe it's just time to replace. They did their job for 22 yrs. lol

Well got my rebuilt ( term used) fuel injectors in today. As normal weekend rain is predicted but hopefully can get them in tomorrow. Though I did a full cleaning of my old and improved the misfire some, it was still there. When you get at a level driving speed, it feels like hesitation is going on. It's kind of hard to explain. After my experience with 1AAuto with new injectors. It rough trusting another seller and going the rebuilt side. Once I can get this and few things going good. Then next will be the timing chain. The main thing is she back on the road as a daily driver. I'm thankful for forums like and the people who make them great place for advice and help.

I put in the fuel injectors I bought and it really hasn't changed. Still has that misfire going on. It really hasn't affected driving it but I don't ever remember it having a light misfire. It's like I can't seem to find out why? I looked down the throttle body and it was clean as well I took carb cleaner lightly spray to make sure the throttle body was clean afterwards. I did the normal things you would do when cleaning. After I did the soak, ultrasonic, backwards and forward flush on the old injectors and notice gas millage actually was worse. I haven't ran on the new ones yet but hopefully I get better gas millage. I burn about a quart of oil between oil changes I noticed. The truck isn't smoking any. I haven't notice any oil leaks either. It 20+ years so I feel this is pretty normal for it's age. Maybe some of this will settle it's self out.lol

If your truck is 96 or newer, and you have a decent scanner, check the misfire counters... that will tell you which cylinder(s) is(are) misfiring. The one with the highest count is likely the one you feel.
