Default High beam indicator not turning on.

Hi guys, I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie 5.2 gas.

I bought it from the junkyard and have fixed the truck, got it smogged, and now just need to pass Brake and Lamp inspection to get it registered.

Fixing this truck has been a learning lesson considering it was the first vehicle I have ever worked on. My friends are mechanics and I am a quick learner, but I have an issue with the headlights that we can’t figure out.

Some helpful information:
Does not have day running lights that I know of. I have read about them and do not see the device near the ABS module.

It has 9007 lights in, but maybe these are wrong.

I cannot read wiring diagrams, but follow instructions well.

Here is a picture of my engine bay fuse box. Not sure if this helps. I added it because it seems different than the ones I have read about, but I cannot seem to make sense of the system. It has words for a different thread I had posted about it. In that thread I was asking why my relay spot is empty in the location circled in red. It doesn’t have the connecting prongs inside at that spot, as if it were a spare or something.

Did you check the bulb in the dash for the high beam? Not all relay spaces where used so that's why you don't have any terminals there. The factory didn't add wires because that would cost more for an option it didn't have. You should have a cover that goes on the distribution box, Under it there is a diagram of the relays and fuses.

That circled spot is for quad headlights, related fuse spot is also missing the connecting pin.

I checked the bulb and it was missing. I changed it out and now the highbeam indicator stays on when the lights are on, even with only low beams active. Can you help with this?

I did some research. I switched to 9004’s and have no issues now. Problem solved. Changed the headlight relay just to be sure, but I am fairly certain the old relay was good. Thanks you guys.

Yeah, if it had 9007s in there, that would be a problem.
