As I recall, the 1 piece oil pan gasket doesn't require sealer. For insurance, I think I added small dabs at each of the corners of the pan rails, but that was about it.
If desired, Rock Auto has high volume oil pumps for the 5.9 magnum engine, as does several retailers. If you google search for part number M72HV, you'll find plenty of them at various places.
hey man do you know by chance what thread size is the oil pan bolts ? I’m thinking of getting some of those snap up bolts that help aid getting the gasket in place when putting the pan back on

I thought it was a one piece gasket??? Was on my 96.....
If it's a 4x4, the job really isn't that bad. Can drop the pan without lifting the motor. Not sure if that works on the 2wd or not.....
so you can 100% remove the oil pan without lifting the motor or messing with the trans? I’m mostly going to take this job on . Just don’t want to run into big complications

That's correct. I have an 8 quart Milodon deep sump oil pan on my 5.9 motor and don't recall any issues with installing it. If there were, it may have been jacking up the motor with a piece of 4x4 wood and a bottle jack, but that would have been about it.

I did the oil pan on mine without touching the motor mounts.

that’s great to hear ! Hoping to do this all in a day and don’t wanna mess around to much if I don’t have to. Anything else you did while you opened it up ? How often does that rear main seal need to be changed ? Also did you remove your oil pump and clean it out ? Never done this job before so hoping it goes smooth

I dropped the pan, changed the pump and pickup tube, and replace the rear main seal, all in about 2 hours, or so. Of course, I think it was my third time doing the job........ (some dipstick stuffed rags into my motor when it sat with the intake off at a friends house overnight. kept losing oil pressure, didn't know why, but found out when I dropped the pan the first time....)
