Default Oil pan gasket

Hey guys so I’m thinking of doing the oil pan gasket on my 96 4x4 360. When I did the timing cover gasket and crank seal last summer I re used the seal that mates the oil pan to the timing cover . Well cheaping out is biting me in the ***. It’s leaking slowly but now it seems a bit worse . I’m wondering does anyone make a 1 piece gasket that goes around the whole pan front and back ? Is this a pretty tricky job or straight forward ? Any tips I need to know
thanks all

I thought it was a one piece gasket??? Was on my 96.....

If it's a 4x4, the job really isn't that bad. Can drop the pan without lifting the motor. Not sure if that works on the 2wd or not.....

If you purchase a oil pan gasket for a 5.9 magnum engine, it should be a 1 piece gasket. If you purchase an oil pan gasket for a Chrysler 360 engine, you would get the old style LA small block 360 engine multi-piece oil pan gasket set.

As HeyYou mentioned, the oil pan gasket change is fairly straight-forward, at least on the 4x4. Be sure to check the oil pump pickup screen once you have the pan off, along with the oil pump. The pickup screen is known to get gummed up over time and possibly inhibit oil flow to the engine. When I did the job some time ago, I also replaced the oil pump with a high volume oil pump for cheap insurance.

I thought it would be aswell . But nope there is a white rubber looking seal that sits between the front of oil pan and bottom of timing cover that is the seal I tried re using when I did the timing cover and that is where the leak is coming from

that must of been the gasket kit that was on my engine then!! So stupid ! This white rubber seal that separates the timing cover to the oil pan is what i reused and that’s where it’s leaking from . It’s deff not a 1 piece . Also have any tips for doing the gasket ? How much rtv and where should I put it on this pan? Also where did you get that fancy oil pump ?
thanks

As I recall, the 1 piece oil pan gasket doesn't require sealer. For insurance, I think I added small dabs at each of the corners of the pan rails, but that was about it.

If desired, Rock Auto has high volume oil pumps for the 5.9 magnum engine, as does several retailers. If you google search for part number M72HV, you'll find plenty of them at various places.

thanks man!
so you didn’t have to put any rtv where the pan meets the timing cover ? Seems to be the most problematic section

Once you see how the Chrysler 5.9 magnum 1 piece oil pan gasket is made, you'll see what I mean. It's a pretty robust gasket.

Any of your local auto parts store should likely have one on the shelf.
