1994 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 20 min cool down before restarting
Truck will run, but once I shut it off. It doesn’t want to start back up. I have to wait 20 minutes or less for it to cool down to restart.
my second problem is my overdrive keeps blowing its fuse?
Does the truck starter turn over at all during restart? Trying to narrow down where the issue may lie, as several things could cause this type of issue on this elderly vehicle.
As for the overdrive blowing fuses, take a look at the wires going into the transmission to see if they may be frayed/bare and causing the short.
Have you plugged in an ODB1 scanner during the times it won't crank to see if you have any pending or stored codes? The last time that happened to me was the crank sensor, but your issue may be different.
Just put a new ECU in it. But still wants to not start when at temperature when I shut it off. The only thing I have not replaced is my crankshaft sensor
Get a genuine mopar crank sensor. These trucks don't play nice with the aftermarket fellers.
I can attest to this after running a replacement Borg-Warner crank sensor for a couple of years, then having to deal with weird behavior like the truck not wanting to start at random times or cutting off in traffic at low idle at a stop light. Finally, after the truck cut off while driving down a country road and displayed a code referencing the crank sensor (had my scanner with me, as the truck was cutting off and not displaying a code previously), I replaced the crank sensor with a genuine MOPAR crank sensor and all of those issues went away.
